Who We Are

The Government Lottery Office (GLO) is a state enterprise under the Ministry of Finance of Thailand. Established to manage and operate the printing and distribution of lottery tickets, our primary objective is to generate revenue for the state in a transparent and regulated manner. This revenue is pivotal for national development, funding public welfare projects, educational scholarships, charitable organizations, and essential infrastructure across the Kingdom.

We operate with strict adherence to the Government Lottery Office Act B.E. 2517 (1974), ensuring that every draw is conducted with the highest standards of fairness and integrity. Historical Milestones

The history of the lottery in Thailand dates back to the reign of King Rama V. What started as a means to aid the country during economic difficulties has evolved into a structured institution.

1874 (King Rama V)

First lottery issued on the occasion of the King's birthday to grant permission for an English merchant to sell tickets.

1939 (April 5)

Establishment of the Government Lottery Office to formalize and regulate lottery operations in Thailand.

1974

Enactment of the Government Lottery Office Act B.E. 2517, providing a legal framework for operations.

Present Day

Implementation of digital platforms (GLO Digital Lottery) to enhance accessibility and reduce overpricing issues.

Organizational Structure

The GLO is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Cabinet. The Director-General serves as the chief executive, overseeing various departments including the Bureau of Printing Affairs, Bureau of Prize Payment, and Bureau of Legal Affairs. This structure ensures a system of checks and balances, maintaining the integrity of our operations.
